CSK beat DD by 13 runs in IPL at Pune

Patna : Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Delhi Daredevils (DD) by 13 runs in the 30th match of the IPL this season at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, on April 30, 2018, even as two DD batsmen : Rishabh Pant and Vijay Shankar, made a tremendous bid to chase the target of 212. CSK top the points table with 12 points in 8 matches. SRH also have 12 points in 8 matches.

DD had won the toss but opted to bowl. Batting fisrt, CSK made 211/4 in 20 overs with Shane Watson, Australia,  scoring 78 in 40 balls with 4 fours and 7 sixes and captain M S Dhoni an unbeaten 51 in 22 balls hitting 2 fours and 5 sixes. Ambati Rayudu was run out for 41 in 24 balls with 5 fours and a six while Faf du Plessis, South Africa, made 33 in 33 balls hitting 3 fours and a six. Suresh Raina was out for 1.

In reply, DD could score 198/5 in 20 overs with wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant scoring a quicfire 79 in 45 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes while Vijay Shankar remained unbeaten on 54 in 31 balls hitting 1 four and 5 sixes. Vijay Shankar hit CSK pacer Dwayne Bravo for three sixes in 19th over. Bravo leaked 43 runs in his 3 overs without taking a wicket. Opener Colin Munro made 26 in 16 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. DD captain Shreyas Iyer was run out for 13 in 14 balls hitting a four.

For CSK, medium pacer K M Asif , 24, Kerala, took 2/43 in 3 overs. Lungisani Ngidi, South Africa, and spinner Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each.
