Madhubani : Police on April 30, 2018, claim to have prevented a child marriage in Madhubani district in North Bihar and arrested the father of the 15 year old girl, her 27-year-old prospective groom and his father.
A police team, on a tip-off, went to a house in Brahmin Tola locality under Basopatti police station area where the 15-year-old girl was to be married off to a person hailing from Arer police station area in Madhubani district.
According to Basopatti police, the girl’s father claimed that his daughter was a major not 15 year old as reported to police. He, however, could not give a supporting proof, police said. A case was lodged against the three arrested persons under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, according to police.
