Raxaul (East Champaran) : Police have arrested seven notorious and wanted criminals from two places near Indo-Nepal border during last 74 hours .The arrested criminals belong to two criminal gangs. Police recovered five pistols, 8 live cartridges, one stolen bike, and 2 kg Charas from their possessions. All of them were interrogated by police and then sent to judicial custody.
For the first time, police have seized 2 kg of Charas from members of two different gang of criminals who have switched over to smuggling of Narcotics in border areas. Around two dozen Narcotics smugglers are running a syndicate at Raxaul in Bihar and adjacent Birgunj in Nepal. Last week, the SSB sleuths had arrested a man at Adapur near Raxaul and seized Morphin worth Rs 50 lakh.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) sleuths on August 21, 2020, had arrested one Kishan Lall from Patna junction and seized 3 kg of Heroin worth Rs 75 crore in the international market. Kishan Lall hails from Madhya Pradesh and was waiting at Patna Junction
platform to handover the consignment to one Master Ji of Raxaul town in East Champaran District in North Bihar when he was nabbed. Search is on by different agencies in Raxaul to smash the narcotic smugglers’ gang, said a senior officer of Central Excise.
SP, East Champaran, Navin Chandra Jha, said that on a tip off, Raxaul and Ramgarhwa police teams jointly searched a bush near river Tier in Dehuli village under Ramgarhwa police station on August 21, 2020, and arrested five criminals including Rajan Tiwari, the gang leader, when he and members of his gang was getting ready to commit a crime. Police seized 3 pistols, 8 live cartridges, and 1 kg Charas from their possession.This gang was operating in border areas for long and was involved in several incidents of loot and snatching in Raxaul and other areas.
Pachapakadi police too had conducted raid at a place at village Bhandar on August 22, 2020, and arrested two notorious criminals
and seized 2 pistols, a stolen bike, and 1 kg Charas from their possession.
