Ara : Over a dozen armed criminals attacked the house of history-sheeter Mantu Kahar at Anand Nagar under Town police station, Ara, in the wee hour on March 25, 2017, and fired 20 rounds to establish supremacy of a gang in the illegal liquor business in the area though no casualty was reported in the incident.
A named FIR was lodged with Town police station on the statement of Mantu Kahar’s father Ganesh Kahar against Sonu Kahar, Jhabar Kahar, Toni Kahar, Mallu Kahar, Sunny Dheman Singh, Mannu Singh and Lallu Prasad. The seven accused have also been charged with looting jewellery and Rs 1 lakh cash. Police seized six blank cartridges of 7.65 mm, one live cartridge, two blank cartridges of 9mm and four pellets from the spot.
SHO, Town Police Station, J P Singh said that Mantu Kahar is a historysheeter and a number of cases of murder, extortion and firing are pending against him. After prohibition was enforced in Bihar in April, 2016, he got involved in the illegal trade of liquor and had some dispute with his rivals over payment and commission and his rivals had fired at his house.
It may be recalled here that some miscreants had fired at the house of Dhanji Yadav at Prakashpuri locality under Town police station in the evening on March 23. A named FIR was lodged with Town police station against Mannu Kumar, Dhannu Kumar, Toni Kumar, Jhabar Kumar, Lala Kumar, Jhunnu Kumar, Pappu Kumar, Ankit Kumar, Mohit Kumar, Kundar Prasad and Mallu Kumar on the statement of Satyendra Prasad in this connection. Police had arrested Dhannu Kumar, Jhunnu Kumar, Ankit Kumar and Mohit Kumar and forwarded them to jail the same day. Police have taken 13 persons under custody in both the cases for interrogation.
