Criminals exchange fire with police at Bhojpur village, two injured

Ara : In an exchange of fire in between police and criminals at village Chowkipur Paswan under Udwantnagar police station in Bhojpur district, two persons including a police personnel were injured while other criminals escaped from the spot firing indiscriminately on September 17, 2018, late evening. The injured were admitted to a private clinic at Babu Bazaar under Town police station, Ara, and the surgeon performed operation on them to remove the bullets.

An FIR has been lodged with Udwantnagar police station in this regard. Police are conducting raids at different places to arrest the miscreants.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that he got information that some miscreants were hatching a plan at Chowkipur Paswan under Udwantnagar police station to commit crime somewhere in Bhojpur district and so a police team was sent there in civilian clothes. Seeing police, the miscreants started firing in which a cop Shiv Kumar received bullet injury in stomach.Police also had to return fire in which a criminal was injured. At least a dozen round were fired  between police and miscreants. Ultimately, the miscreants escaped from the spot firing on police. The injured persons were admitted to a private clinic at Babu Bazaar under Town police station, Ara. Police have taken at least a dozen persons into custody for interrogation.

Bhojpur SP visited the private clinic to inquire about the condition of the injured cop and he along with other police officials conducted raids at Ara jail in the late evening the same day and also quizzed some prisoners. The SP said that the miscreants were operating at the behest of some inmates of the Ara jail.

Dr Bikas Singh, who operated upon the injured persons, said that bullets had been taken out of the bodies of the two persons. He said had a press reporter Vishal not donated blood, life of the cop would have been in danger.
