Muzaffarpur : Police are investigating into a serious case of demand of Rs 10 lakh from Additional District Sessions Judge  and Special Judge of Vigilance and Excise Court, Muzaffarpur, Rakesh Malviya, allegedly by two notorious criminals : Anil and Pawan, through a hand-written letter sent by registered post. They have threatened to eliminate ADJ Malvia in his court itself by firing seven bullets on him if fails to pay the ‘Rangdari’ (extortion amount). This is the first case of its kind in across the state in which criminals have demanded ‘Rangdari, (extortion amount) from a judge.

The letter was delivered to ADJ Malviya on  January 9, 2020, after which he informed the District Judge, Muzaffarpur, about it. Nakul Prasad  Navin, Nazir of  ADJ Malviya,  lodged a case with Sadar police station, Muzaffarpur, against  Anil, Pawan and  one A K Prasad, in this connection on  January 9.

Ravi Gupta, Sub- Inspector (SI) of police, Sadar police station  and  Investigating officer of this case, said that Anil  and Pawan   are at present lodged in Muzaffarpur jail. SI Gupta said that Anil had been convicted in a murder case while Pawan carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head before his arrest. Both these criminals had allegedly put their signature on this letter. A third person named  A K Prasad, had also allegedly signed this letter  with his address given as Sadpura, Neem Chowk, Muzaffarpur.

SSP, Muzaffarpur, Jayant Kant , said that investigation is going on and surveillance cell is closely watching various cellphone numbers. The SSP hoped that the case would be cracked soon. According to police sources, the  mobile phone number and postal address given on the  letter has been found  forged  during investigation. A K Prasad is yet to located. Police are still clueless despite lapse of 10 days.

According to police sources, the  senders of the threatening letter had asked ADJ Malviya to send  Rs 10 lakh on January 14 , 2020, at 5.50  pm at the gate of Sadar Hospital, Muzaffarpur, and directed him to  make a missed call on the cellphone number given in the letter. But, no one responded to the missed call.
