Bettiah : The CPI (ML) workers of Narakatiaganj Sub- Division of West Champaran district, who gathered at at the Sub-Divisional Headquarters on November 9, 2017, under the leadership Aniruddh Patel, accused CM Nitish Kumar of not fulfilling the promises he had made to the people whose crops were damaged in the flood this year.

The CPI (ML) leaders said that Nitish had promised all help to the farmers whose crops were damaged in the devastating flood but failed to do anything. The farmers whose crops were damaged were yet to get compensation, they said adding that Rabi cultivation was on but subsidized rabi seeds had not yet reached any block headquarters of the district. The farmers have to buy Rabi seeds and fertlizers from open market. Done and Triveni canals of the Gandak project had breached at several points under Gaunaha and Mainatard blocks in the flood but were to be repaired, they added.

Many speakers including Krishna Paswan, Rajdhani Baitha, Lalji Yadav and Indradeo Kushwaha demanded announcement of Minimum Support Price for Paddy at Rs 2,500 per quintal. They alleged that Sugar factories in West Champaran have to start sugarcane crushing season but Nitish government had not yet announced the Cane price for current season and demanded the price at the rate of Rs 500 per quintal.
