Patna : COVID-19 cases rose to 2,04,212 in Bihar on October 18, 2020, afternoon, as 1,152 more persons including 316 from Patna, 72 from Araria, 69 from Purnia, 62 from Bhagalpur, 60 from Muzaffarpur, and 47 from East Champaran, tested positive to it on October 17, 2020. Purnia IG, Vinod Kumar, died due to COVID-19 on October 18, 2020. Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan expressed his profoundĀ grief over the death of Purnia IG Vinod Kumar.
According to State Health Department figure, 37 persons from Madhubani, 36 from Saran, 33 from Katihar, 32 from Rohtas, 29 from Nalanda, 28 from Vaishali, 27 from Aurangabad, 27 from Gopalganj, 26 from Madhepura, 21 from Kishanganj, and 20 from Jehanabad also tested positive to COVID-19 on October 17, 2020.
Of the 2,04,212 COVID-19 cases detected till date in Bihar, altogether 1,92,594 patients have been declared cured including 1,079 during last 24 hours with the recovery rate being 94.31%. Bihar has tested 91,34,927 samples till date including 1,19,456 samples on October 17, 2020. The number of active cases in Bihar was 10,621 on October 18, 2020.
The COVID-19 toll jumped to 996 inĀ Bihar on October 18, 2020, with 6 new deaths being reported in the state during last 24 hours including 2 from Patna, and one each from Vaishali, East Champaran, Aurangabad, and Saran.
