Patna : COVID-19 cases rose to 1,22,156 in Bihar on August 23, 2020, with 2,247 more persons including 203 from Patna, 159 from Begusarai, 127 from Muzaffarpur, 120 from Saharsa,and 115 from Bhagalpur, testing positive to it on August 22, 2020.
According to State Health Department, 97 persons from Madhubani, 96 persons from Katihar, 81 from Gaya, 79 from Purnia, 76 from East Champaran, 71 from Bhojpur, 71 from Kishanganj, 70 from Nalanda, 65 from Saran, 58 from Sitamarhi, 57 each from Madhepura and Aurangabad, and 56 from Supaul also tested positive to COVID-19 on August 22, 2020.
Of the 1,22,156 COVID cases in Bihar, 98,454 patients have been declared cured including 3,082 during last 24 hours with the recovery rate being 80.6%. The number of active cases in Bihar on August 23, 2020, was 23,091.
The COVID death toll in Bihar, on the other hand, has climbed to 610 with nine new deaths being reported from different parts of the state during last 24 hours including six from Samastipur in North Bihar, two from Katihar in Eastern Bihar, and 1 from Purnia. According to State IMA sources, one doctor died due to COVID at AIIMS Patna. With this, 21 doctors have died due to COVID in Bihar.
