Ara : Bhojpur District Consumers’ Grievance Redressal Forum on July 5, 2017, slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on a complainant Rakesh Singh for filling a wrong case harassing the respondent with a malafide intention.
Rakesh Singh, son of Gaya Singh of Chhotaki Sasaram under Udwantnagar police station in BHojpur district, had filed a complaint three years ago with Bhojpur District Consumers’ Grievance Redressal Forum against a dealer of Public Distribution System (PDS) Lalan Singh of his village alleging the PDS dealer was not giving him subsidised rice.
Earlier, the Chhotaki Sasaram Panchayat had decided that Rakesh Singh was not entitled to the subsidized rice from the PDS as his name figures in the Above the Poverty Line (APL) list and he can take only kerosene from the PDS. Aggrieved with the decision, Rakesh Singh moved the Bhojpur District Consumers’ Grievance Redressal Forum.
The Forum after hearing both the parties observed that Rakesh Singh had filed the case just to harass the dealer and asked him to pay Rs 10,000 to the PDS dealer as fine.
