Patna: Zonal IG, Patna, N H Khan on Thursday directed Senior SP (SSP), Patna, Manu Maharaaj to change all the police officials posted in Maner police station of the district within 24 hours.
Addressing a meeting of police officials of the district over prohibition, Khan took umbrage to the reaction of people of Maner, who had openly came against the liquor mafias active there few days back. He said that though Maner SHO had been placed under suspension, it is not enough and directed the SSP to change all the police officials of the police station concerned.
Khan said that the entire police station would be held accountable if any complaint regarding manufacture and sale of liquor is reported he from there. He said that earlier only SHO was held responsible for that. “ Henceforth, all the police officials of a police station would be held responsible for such things,” he said.
The IG said that for the first time, City SP, SP (rural), DSPs and SDPOs would be also held responsible if there was any he complaint of manufacture and sale of liquor under their jurisdictions. He said that they would have to explain their positions if any negligence on their part was reported. Khan also directed every police station of the district for maintaining a register where such complaints of manufacture and sale of liquor would be registered and said it is mandatory for every police station. He said that SSP, Patna, would monitor these registers.
The meeting was attended by DIG, SSP, Patna, three City SPs besides SHOs of sensitive police stations including Naubatpur, Bihta, Phulwarisharif, Barh and Bakhtiyarpur.
