Patna : Number 6 seed Marin Cilic, 29, Croatia, entered the quarterfinals of Australian Open (AO) 2018 after defeating Number 10 seed Pablo Carreno Busta, 26, Spain, 6-7, 6-3, 7-6, 7-6, in tough four set encounter at Melbourne on January 21, 2018. Cilic, the 2014 US Open Champion, came from behind to beat Busta. It was Cilic’s 100th Grand Slam singles match.

In the Women’s section Number 2 seed Caroline Wozniacki, Denmark, defeated Number 19 seed Magdalena Rybarikova, Slovakia, 6-3, 6-0 in the fourth round to enter the quarterfinals on January 21. Unseeded Carla Suarez Navarro, Spain, defeated number 32 seed Anett Kontaveit, Estonia, 4-6, 6-4, 8-6 in a strong comeback to enter the quarterfinals. Kontaveit was up 4-1 in the second set when Navarro, ranked 39 in the WTA rankings,  won five games in a row to win the set. Wozniacki will meet Navarro in the quarterfinals.
