Bokaro ( Jharkhand): By attacking railway property thrice in quick succession on October 6, October 10, and October 11, 2016, on Central Industrial Chord (CIC) section under Dhanbad Railway division during bandh call given by them, the maoists have given a clear signal to  security forces and administration that CIC section still remains vulnerable and on the radar of the rebels. The 35 km stretch of single railway line of CIC section from Gomia to Jageshwar Vihar has faced more than 26 attacks in last seven years especially during bandh calls given by naxalites.

It may be mentioned here that this stretch of railway line  (Gomia to Jagehswar Vihar) does not have parallel road connectivity and falls  in tough forest and hilly terrains for the naxalites to attack railway property whenever they want and escape without being challenged immediately.

On October 6,  the naxalites after blowing up concrete  sleepers, set afire a railway engine at Dumri Vihar station.  On October 10, suspected Maoists  blew up railway track between Jageshwar Vihar and Dania and on October 11 afternoon again blasted railway track between Dania and Dumri forcing railways to stop movement of trains.

Dhanbad railway division Public Relation Officer Sanjay Prasad agreed the CIC section  passing through Bokaro district is definitely vulnerable and railways with help of state government must take concrete steps to check this growing menace. “ Railway property is being attacked frequently on CIC section route especially duringbBandh calls given by  the naxalites which must be checked,” stated the senior railway officer.

Bokaro SP Y S Ramesh stated that according to him the only way to tackle this problem was following the principle of ‘Eye for an Eye’ and ‘Tooth for a Tooth’ which was being planned. “ Everywhere  in long stretch of 30 km from Gomia  to Jageshwar Vihar , we cannot place cops hence the best way is to spot naxalites using intelligence network and teach them tough lessons so that they never dare to attack again,” stated the SP adding that very soon the naxalites will have to suffer big losses for which home work is being done.
