Patna : World No 4 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Chou Tien Chen, Taipei, and World No 14 Tommy Sugiarto, Indonesia, will clash in the final of Korea Open 2018, a BWF World Tour Super 500 event, at Seoul, on September 309, 2018.
Chou Tien Chen beat World No 10 Kenta Nishimoto, 24, Japan, in a three-set thriller 19-21, 21-18, 21-14 in the semi-finals in 71 minute on September 29, 2018. Chen lost the first set but came back strongly to win the next two enter the final. Chen had won Singapur Open, a Super 500 event, and German Open, a Super 300 event, in 2018.
Sugiarto, 30, beat World No 15 Jonatan Christie, Indonesia, 21-13, 22-20 in 44 minute in the semi-finals. Tommy Sugiarto is the son of former world champion Icuk Sugiarto. Tommy had lost in the final of Thailand Open 2018, also BWF World Tour Super 500 event, to World No 19 Kenta Tsuneyama, Japan,
