Patna : Chen Yu Fei, 21, China, has one spot to be ranked World No 1 with 96,765 points in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on December 17, 2019, after winning the season finale HSBCBWF World Tour Finals trophy last week at Guanzhou, China, defeating Tai Tzu Ying, Chinese Taipei.
Tai Tzu Ying, 25, Chinese Taipei, has slipped one position to be ranked World No 2 with 95,675 points. Akane Yamaguchi, 22, Japan, who had lost to Chen Yu Fei in the semi-finals of World Tour Finals at Guanzhou, has jumped one place and ranked World No 3 with 88,650 points while 2017 World Champion Nozomi Okuhara, 24, Japan, who had lost to Tai Tzu Ying in the semi-finals at Guanzhou, has slipped one place to be ranked World No 4 with 87,186 points.
Ratchanok Intanon, 24, the 2013 World Champion, remains World No 5 with 78,485 points while P V Si ndhu, 24, India, who failed to defend her title at Guanzhou, remains World No 6 though with reduced points. Sindhu has 72,914 points. Saina Nehwal, India, has slipped one place and is ranked World No 11 with 56,937 points. Mugdha Agrey, India, has slipped 5 places to be ranked World No 74 with 21,640 poi nts.
Ashmita Chaliha, India, has jumped has jumped 13 spots to be ranked World No 83 with 19,945 points while Riya Mookerjee, India, has slipped one place and is ranked World No 87 with 19,530 points. Rituparna Das, India, has jumped 27 spots to be ranked World No 93 with 18,180 points.
