Patna : Second seed Chou Tien Chen, Taiwan, 4th seed Viktor Axelsen, Denmark, 5th seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Indonesia, and 7th seed N G Ka Long Angus,Hong Kong, won their respective quarter-finals matches to sail into the semi-finals of Yonex Thailand Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 Badminton tournament, at Bangkok, Thailand, on January 15, 2021.

Chou Tien Chen, 31, beat 8th seed Lee Zii Jia, 22, Malaysia, in straight games 21-17, 21-15 in 43 minutes in QFs. Chen won 42 rallies in the match to 32 by Jia. He also won 6 consecutive points to 4 by the Malaysian. Chen now leads Jia 4-2 Head to Head.

Viktor Axelsen, 27, the 2017 World Champion, crushed reigning Asian Games Champion and 6th seed Jonatan Christie, 23, Indonesia, 21-14, 21-5 in 40 minutes in QFs. Axdelsen won 42 rallies in the match to just 19 by Jonatan Christie.  He won 7 consecutive points to 4 by the Indonesian. Axelsen now leads Jonatan 4-2 Head to Head.

Fifth seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, 24, Indonesia, beat World No 17 Rasmus Gemke, 24, Denmark, in a three-game thriller  21-14, 19-21, 21-5 in 66 minutes in QFs. Ginting won 61 rallies in the match to 40 by Gemke. He won 13 consecutive points to 7 by the Dane. The two players are now locked 1-1 Head to Head.

7th Seed N G Ka Long Angus, 26, Hong Kong, beat World No 20 Lee Cheuk Yiu, 24, Hong Kong,   21-17, 21-12 in 44 minutes in QFs. Angus won 42 rallies in the match to 29 by Yiu. He won 7 consecutive points in the match to 6 by Yiu. Angus now leads Yiu 4-0 Head to Head.
