Chardy shocks World No 3 Grigor Dimitrov in MIami Open Masters

Patna : World Number 90 in ATP rankings Jeremy Chardy, 31, France,  shocked World Number 4 and third seed Grigor Dimitrov, 26, Bulgaria, in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, in the third round of Miami Open ATP Masters 1000 tournament at Crandon Park Tennis Centre, Key Biscayne, Florida, USA, on March 25, 2018, night.

World Number 1 and top seed Roger Federer, 36, was shown the exit door in second round by World Number 175 Thanasi Kokkinakis,21, Australia, a qualifier, on March 24, 2018. Kokkinakis was given a wild card to even play the qualifiers due to his low ATP rankings.

But, World Number 6 and 5th seed JuanMartin del Porto, 29, Argentina, and World Number 25 Milos Raunic, 27, Canada, entered the 4th round on March 25. del Porto defeated World Number 33 and 26th seed Kei Nishikhiri, 28, Japan, 6-2, 6-2, in the third round. Raonic beat  World Number 16 Diego Schwartzman, 25, Argentina, 7-6, 6-3,  to enter the 4th round. World Number 17 John Isner, 32, USA, defeated World Number 102 Mikhail Youzhny, 35, Russia, 6-4, 6-3, to enter the 4th round.

World Number 3 and second seed Marin Cilic, 29, Croatia, entered the 4th round defeating World Number 77 Vasek Pospisil, 27, Canada, 7-5, 7-6, in the round of 32. Filip Krajinovic, 26, Serbia, too entered the 4th round defeating World Number 47 Benoit Paire, 28, France, 6-3, 6-3. World Number 80 Joao Sousa, 28, Portugal, defeated World Number 49 Jared Donaldson, 21, USA,  1-6, 6-3, 6-4, to enter the 4th round. World Number 23 Hyeon Chung, 21, South Korea, the 19th seed entered the 4th round after defeating World Number 176 Michael Mmoh, 20, USA, 6-1, 6-1.
