Patna : A senior Patna High Court Judge Rakesh Kumar, who had raised the issue of corruption in judiciary on August 28, 2019, while hearing a corruption case against a former IAS officer K P Ramaiah, has been taken off all the cases he was hearing. An eleven-judge bench of Patna High Court headed by Chief Justice A P Shahi has also suspended Justice Rakesh Kumar’s order in that case saying no action would be taken on his order.

” All the matters pending before Justice Rakesh Kumar including tied up/part heard or otherwise stand withdrawn with immediate effect,” Patna High Court Chief Justice said in a notice issued on August 28, 2019.

Justice Kumar while hearing a bail plea of retired IAS officer K P Ramaiah in a corruption case had wondered as to how he was granted bail by a lower court while the High Court as well as the Supreme Court had rejected his request for protection from arrest. Ramaiah is an accused in embezzlement of over Rs 5 crore of Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission.
