Carolina, Young, Rituparna, Shruti, Tanvi enter 2nd round of Syed Modi International Badminton Championsships

Patna : Reigning Olympic champion and 4th seed Carolina Marin, Spain, 5th seed A N Se Young, South Korea, Rituparna Das, Shruti Mundada, Tanvi Lad, all from India, entered the second round of Ecogreen Syed Modi International Badminton Championsships, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament, at babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium, Lucknow, UP, India, on November 27, 2019.

World No 18 Carolina Marin, a three-time former World Champion, beat World No 70 Linda Zetchiri, Bulgaria, in straight games 21-16, 21-11, in 32 minutes in first round. Carolina won 42 rallies in the match to 27 by Linda. She won 5 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Linda. Carolina now leads Linda 6-2 Head to Head.

World No 9 AN Se Young beat World No 62 Ksenia Polikarpova, Isreal,  in straight games 21-11, 21-7 in 31 minutes in first round. Young won 42 rallies in the match to 18 by Ksenia. She won 6 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Ksenia. It was first meeting between the two players.

World No 165 Rituparna Das, 23, India, beat World No 47 Yip Pui Yin, 32, Hong Kong, in straight games 21-19, 21-19 in 47 minutes in first round. Das won 42 rallies in the match to 38 by Yin. Das won 9 consecutive points in the match to 5 by Yin. The twoplayers are now locked 1-1 Head to Head.

World No 200 Shruti Mundada, 25, India, beat World No 91 Riya Mookerjee, 21, India, in three-games 17-21, 21-12, 21-13 in 51 minutes in first round battling back from one game down. Mundada won 59 rallies in the match to 46 by Riya. She won 7 consecutive points in the match to 5 by Riya. It was first meeting between the two players.

World No 139 Tanvi Lad, India, beat Natalia Perminova in three-games 21-18, 17-21, 21-16 in 63 minutes to enter the 2nd round.
