Patna : Reigning Olympic champion and 5th seed Carolina Marin, 27, Spain, beat top seed and World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying, 26, Taiwan, in straight games in finals to lift the women’s singles title at Toyota Thailand Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 Badminton tournament, at Bangkok, Thailand, on January 24, 2021, in a repeat of Yonex Thailand Open Final. Carolina had also defeated top Tai Tzu Ying in straight games in finals to win the Yonex Thailand Open singles title on January 17, 2021.

Carolina, also a three-time former World Champion, beat Tai Tzu Ying  in straight games 21-19, 21-17 in 48 minutes in finals to win the Toyota Thailand Open singles title. The Spainiard won 42 rallies in the match to 36  by Tai Tzu. She also won 6 consecutive points during the match to 4 by Tai Tzu. Tai Tzu, however, still leads Carolina 9-8 Head to Head.

Carolina bagged 12,000 BWF franking points and $70,000 for winning the title while runner-up Tai Tzy Ying secured 10,200 points and $34,400.
