Patna : Reigning Olympic Champion and three-time former World Champion Carolina Marin, 26, Spain, on September 22, 2019, lifted the women’s singles title at Victor China Open at Changzhou, China, defeating 2nd seed and World No 4 Tai Tzu Ying, 25, Taiwan, in the final.

Defending Champion Carolina beat Tai Tzu in a three-game slugfest lasting 65 minutes 14-21, 21-17, 21-18 coming from behind in the final at Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, Changzhou, China. Both the players won 56 rallies each in the match. Carolina won 5 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Tai Tzu. Tai Tzu, however, still leads Carolina, who has returned to court after a long injury lay off,  7-5 Head to Head. Carolina had lost in the 1st round of BWF Vietnam Open last week.

Carolina had defeated Chen Yu Fei, China, in straight games to win the Victor China Open title in 2018.
