Carbine & Regular Rifle looted from police at Bhojpur village recovered, 36 persons held

Ara : Police on January 16, 2020, recovered a Carbine and a Regular Rifle lying in a field at village Kaushik Dularpur under Ara Muffasil police station in Bhojpur District. Police also took into custody around three dozen persons including six women to quiz them in this connection.

Some people had looted Carbine and Rifle from police on January 15, 2020, late evening, when they had gone to Kaushik Dularpur to seize liquor and arrest liquor smugglers. The persons taken into custody have been kept at different police stations in Bhojpur district. An FIR has been lodged with Ara Muffasil police station and police are investing into the incident.

SHO, Ara Muffasil police station, Jyoti Kumari, said that police got information that a big consignment of liquor was kept at a house at village Kaushik Dularpur on January 15. She along with heavy police force conducted raids and seized a Bolero, one Gypsy, a big consignment of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) loaded on an autorickshaw and also arrested three persons including a woman.

As the police team was leaving the village, some villagers attacked and pelted the cops with stones injuring around a dozen of them seriously. They also snatched a Carbine and a Regular Rifle from the cops and got the arrested liquor smugglers free, the SHO added. The injured police personnel were admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital. The seriously injured police personnel are :  Havildar Summy Alam, Homeguards Personnel Ram Iqbal and Driver of police vehicle Ravindra Kumar.

Taking serious note of the incident, Bhojpur SP formed a police team under his supervision that conducted a search operation at the village. The police team searched every house at Kaushik Dularpur and took at least three dozen persons including six  women into custody. Police also recovered the looted Carbine and Regular Rifle lying from a field.
