Buxar : Irate villagers blocked the Itadhi village roundabout in Buxar district on March 15, 2018, in protest against rising incidents of theft in the area and failure of police to arrest any miscreant so far. They burnt tyres and paralyzed movement of vehicles for about three hours raising slogans against Buxar district administration and demanding compensation for loss to the businessmen due to theft.
Buxar DM Arvind Kumar Verma had to wait for at least an hour as his car remained stuck in the jam. When all efforts of police to remove blockade failed, they resorted to baton charge to disperse the protesters and restored the movement of vehicles.
The shopkeepers said that thieves and dacoits are operating in the areawithout any fear of police. They said that the thieves entered a shop on March 14, 2018, night, at Ithadhi railway level crossing gumali, 20 metre from the Itadhi police chowky and decamped with booty worth lakhs of rupees.
