Buxar: Buxar DM Raman Kumar has ordered an inquiry into alleged conversion of five hundred mahadalits into christianity at village Chaugai under Dumraon sub-division in the district during last four months. The matter came to light on August 24, 2016. Dalit Adhikar Manch also condemned the incident and alleged some conspiracy behind it.

A christian organisation allegedly lured 500 poor mahadalits into religious convrsion promising better life, jobs, money and all comforts in future. This programme was carried out so silently that no one not even police had information about it. At least 100 mahadalit families lived in the Khapdaila locality of Mahadalit Tola at Chaugai village and their population is over 1,000. All of them are economically, socially and educationally extremely backward.

Yogendra Musahar of the Khapdaila locality said that half of their population had been converted into Christianity during last four months. The residents of the locality regarded as their leader Moti Musahar, who had adopted Christianity four months ago first and others followed his dictate. He alleged that the remaining persons were  being pressurized to embrace Christianity.
