Buxar : Buxar DM Raghvendra Pratap ordered the Civil Surgeon (CS), Buxar, to inquire into the death of a woman and her newborn child at an unregistered private Nursing Home allegedly run by a Nurse posing as a doctor at Buxar recently. The DM has also directed the Civil Surgeon to inquire into the illegal Nursing Homes running in the district.

A pregnant woman Urmila Devi, 24, and her newborn child died after a quack performed surgery on her at an unregistered Nursing Home in Civil Line locality under Buxar Town police station in Buxar district on May 16, 2018. Urmila Devi, wife of Sibu Sah of village Koratadih in UP, was admitted to the unregistered private Nursing Home on May 15, 2018, evening for delivery. A NursePoonam Rai, who allegedly owned the Nursing Home posing herself as a doctor, operated upon her. During delivery, both the woman and her newborn child died due to profuse bleeding. After the death of woman and child, the so called doctor escaped from there.

On getting information, SDO, Buxar, Krishna Kumar Upadhyaya, reached there and sealed the Nursing Home. Police brought the body of the child to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem while the family members took away the body of the woman.

The locals said that this Nursing Home was running for the last several years right but no action was taken against it. They also said that the Nursing Home was flourishing with the help of middlemen.
