Buxar: Buxar district administration has tightened security on the banks of river Ganga and made elaborate arrangements on the ghats for the Chhath festival. Buxar DM Raman Kumar said that divers hade been deployed at various ghats and asked to remain alert.
The DM said that magistrates and police force have been deputed at 96 places and a team of NDRF has been pressed into operation for festival. He said that police were keeping round the clock vigil on the ghats. He said that police personnel in civil uniform are deputed on every ghat to maintain law and order during the festival
SHO, Town Police Station, Buxar, Vindhyachal Prasad has urged the people not to touch unclaimed articles and inform the police immediately if they see one. But, the Buxar district administration claim of having made all arrangements to facilitate devotees perform Chhath notwithstanding, they will perform puja this year in a hazardous condition as the administration failed to clean the ghats despite repeated request. The locals are seen cleaning the ghats themselves.
