Buxar : Additional District and Sessions Judge IV, Buxar, Rakesh Mishra, sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment three accused : Hakim Singh alias Jai Govind Singh, Laljee Singh, and Niranjan Singh of village Mangolpur, in connection with murder in a land dispute on September 9, 2018. The court also slapped a fine Rs 22,000 on each of them.
Kalika Mahto of village Goppur Sikraul under Sikraul police station in Buxar District in South Bihar was returning to his village along with his elder brother Birbal Mahto on bicycle after taking milk on September 9, 2018. As they reached near Girdhar playground, some armed miscreants intercepted them and pumped three bullets into the body of his elder brother Birbal Mahto killing him on the spot.
The miscreants had also fired on the informant but he escaped unhurt. A named FIR was lodged with Sikraul police station against five persons in this connection. Land dispute was said to be the cause behind the incident.
After hearing both the parties, ADJ IV Rakesh Mishra found three of the five accused guilty and awarded rigorous life imprisonment to them besides slapping a fine of Rs 22,000 on each of them.
