Patna : 20th Seed Pablo Carreno Busta, 29, Spain, entered the men’s singles quarterfinals of US Open (Tennis) at Newyork City, Newyork, USA, on September 7, 2020, as top seed Novak Djokovic, 33, Serbia, was disqualified for hitting a line judge ( woman) with the ball unintentionally after his service was broken in the first set.

World No 1 Djokovic was trailing 5-6 in first set when he was defaulted. Djokovic hit the ball during changeover in frustration after his service was broken in the 11th game of the first set. The ball accidentally struck the line judge, who dropped to her knees and Djokovic was defaulted. The Serbian apologised for his mistake.

Djokovic had retired due to injury in his Round of 16 match against Stan Wawrinka, Switzerland, in 2019 US Open in third set trailing 4-6, 5-7, 1-2.

Busta will face 12th seed Denis Shapovalov, 21, Canada, in the QFs on September 8, 2020. Shapovalov beat 7th seed David Goffin, 29, Belgium, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in Round of 16 coming back from one set own. The Canadian hammered 12 Aces in the match to 3 by Goffin. Shapovalov won 5 break points during the match to 1 by Goffin. The Canadian won 5 games in a row in the match to 2 by the Belgian.
