Buxar : The farmers are still unable to sell their paddy in Buxar district as the officials refuse to procure them saying the paddy carries moisture more than the prescribed limit. On the other hand, the Agriculture department has asked the officials to pay the price of procured paddy to the farmers within 48 hours. The devastating flood notwithstanding, Buxar district has bumper paddy crops this year and now the farmers are preparing to sell their crops but the officials in the Agriculture department or the SFC refuse to procure paddy saying it carries moisture more than the prescribed limit.
Buxar District Cooperative Officer, Ajay Kumar Alankar, said the agriculture department has decided to procure paddy from the farmers and pay the amount within 48 hours of procurement through RTGS or NEFT. If anyone does not abide by the order, the farmers can complain directly to the District Cooperative Officer or the Block Cooperative Officer and appropriate action may be taken against the defaulting officials. All the officials concerned have been given direction in this regard. He said that on the direction of the District Magistrate, all the Circle Officers will have to issue receipt of Lagan by holding camps.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Buxar, scientist, Devkaran has asked the farmers to spread their paddy under the Sun for about eight hour or in a room for at least two days under 500 watt or 200 watt bulbs to maintain moisture level in their corps.
