Patna : The 2560th birth anniversary of Buddha was celebrated at Budha Jayanti Park here in the presence of CM  Nitish Kumar on Saturday morning. Thousands of devotees took holy deep in river Ganga also.
Nitish Kumar accompanied by urban development minister Maheshwar Hazari and chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh and  senior officers reached the Budha Park and sat on meditation at Vipasana centre at the park. He said teachings of Buddha create peace in the society. He also worshipped the Bodhi trees at park, at his residence 7, Circular Road and 1, Anne Marg, also. He visited the Karuna stupa where urns containing ashes of Buddha brought from six coountries have been presevred.
Thousands of devotees took holy deep in the Ganga at its banks at Patna. They had assembled on the banks early morning and the crowd of devotees reached upto Ashok Rajpath near Kali Ghat in Patna university. At Deoghar, large number of pilgrims offered prayers at the temple of Baidyanth.
