Ara : A bridegroom escaped in the middle of his marriage after his first wife reached there with police. An already married man Jay Shankar Pandey, an armyman, was marrying a girl in Anand Nagar locality under Ara Town police station on January 19, 2019, night, but had to escape when his first wife reached at the marriage venue with police.
SHO, Ara Town Police Station, said that an armyman Jay Shankar Pandey, son of Gauri Shankar Pandey of village Shivpur under Dhangai police station, was married to Pooja Devi, 24, daughter of Mohan Mishra of Gajadharganj under Buxar Town police station on May 13, 2013, in Lucknow. They lived at Telibagh, Lucknow, but very soon their relation strained and Pooja Devi started living with her parents at Buxar.
On January 19, 2019, night, Jay Shankar Pandey was tying knot with Dipika, daughter of Amar Nath Upadhayay of village Mahudahi under Barhara police station in Bhojpur district, keeping them in dark about his first marriage. As Pooja Devi came to know about second marriage of her husband, she reached the marriage venue with police. Seeing police, the bridegroom as well as baraties escaped from the spot.
Pooja Devi said that her in-laws and husband tortured her for dowry though her parents had given a lot of movable and unmovable items in the dowry at the time of marriage. She said that she had filed a case in the Buxar Civil Court in 2015 against her husband for allegedly demanding dowry and added that her husband was marrying another girl though the case is still pending in the court. She appealed police for her safety as her life was in danger because her husband was absconding.
