Muzaffarpur: Both the units of Kanti Thermal Power Plant in Muzaffarpur district have stopped power production due to shortage of coal. One unit of the plant was generating power till November 21 as coal was available till that day. But, coal stock exhausted on November 21 night and as a result both the units are closed now.

Muzaffapur district is getting only 60-70 MW power since November 22 causing problems to the people. The district was getting up to 200 MW power daily. On August 4, 2016, too both the units had stopped generation due to coal shortage for one week. Even in July 2016, one unit had stopped power generation for the same reason.
