Bokaro ( Jharkhand ) : Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Bokari police in Jharkhand with the help of Mumbai police finally succeeded in nabbing Hasan Chikna of Malda (Bengal), the kingpin of SBI bank heist, on May 21, 2018, night. Hasan Chikna was arrested from Nerul (Navi Mumbai) along with 5.5 kg of gold ornaments and Rs 36 lakh cash.
Hasan Chikna, who was wanted in more than two dozen cases in Jharkhand, Bengal and Uttar Pradesh, was brought over to Bokaro from Mumbai and was presented before media- persons at SP office on May 24, 2018. Bokaro police have so far recovered 7 kg of gold ornaments and more than Rs 38 lakh cash from 13 criminals arrested in connection with the bank heist.
Hasan Chikna was the kingpin in sensational SBI heist on December 25, 2017, night, in which 10 criminals took away gold and diamond ornaments along with cash worth more than Rs 15 crore after cutting the ‘most secured’ claimed 72 bank lockers belonging to 72 persons in the heart of Bokaro Steel City.
Till date 13 criminals have been arrested in the case and as per Bokaro SP Karthik S, the Malda based criminal has accepted his involvement in several cases of bank and ornament burglary at different locations including Bagdogra, Pradhan Nagar, Rampur Haat, Siliguri (all Bengal), Bokaro and even Allahabad (UP).
Hasan Chikna, during his interrogation, told cops that a team of 10 criminals had reached Bokaro on December 25, 2017, from Dhanbad, Jharkhand, in the late evening hours and entered the bank during midnight hours and left the bank for Dhanbad around 5 am after cutting 72 lockers and taking away more than 15kg of gold and diamond jewellery as well as huge cash.
“After distributing the looted ornaments at Dhanbad, all the criminals left for different locations. Hasan Chikna went to Bengal from where he went to Navi Mumbai and was hiding there.
On April 29, 2018, Hasan Chikna went to Allahabad where he along with local criminals committed burglary at UCO bank in Civil Lines area and took away 5 kg of ornaments and escaped to Navi Mumbai.B ut by then, Bokaro police started getting mobile signals regarding the location Hasan Chikna at Navi Mumbai after which a team of cops of Bokaro led by DSP Ranjit Lakra and Inspector Kamal Kishore and other cops were sent to Mumbai who with the help of local cops arrested Chikna on May 21, 2018, midnight hours, and brought him over to Bokaro on May 23, 2018, informed the SP at a presser on May 24.
