Saharsa : The body of Shambhu Paswan, a resident of village Nariar under Sadar Police Station, Saharsa who was missing since November 12, 2018, was found near Pasraha canal under Sadar police station in Saharsa district on November 23, 2018, evening triggering strong protest from the locals. They placed the body on police station chowk and resorted to arson to register their protest. Sadar SDO Shambhunath Jha, SDPO Prabhakar Tiwary, and SHO, Sadar PS, R K Singh soon reached spot and pacified the protesters and sent the body to Sadar Hospital, saharsa, for post-mortem..

Shambhu Paswan was missing since November 12 and his kin had lodged a case of kidnapping with the Sadar police station the same day. They had also met Saharsa SP Rakesh Kumar on November 13 demanding his immediate recovery. Sarita Paswan, who had unsuccessfully the 2015 assembly polls on LJP ticket, said that Shambhu’s family members of the deceased had made a representation before CM Nitish Kumar during his last visit to Saharsa seeking his immediate recovery. She alleged that police kept telling them that Shambhu had left the place as he was under debt. Sarita Paswan demanded a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased, job to one of his family members, and arrest of the killers.

SDO Jha said that a cheque of Rs 20,000 had been handed over the wife of the deceased and the Welfare Department would release a compensation as per provisions later on the basis of police report.
