Patna : Statement of RSS leader and spokesman Manmohan Vaidya on reservations invited sharp criticism from RJD president Lalu Prasad who said the BJP would be wiped out of Uttar Pradesh in the coming assembly elections. Lalu said he a similar statement by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in 2015 had resulted in near rout of BJP in Bihar assembly
elections.
“Electorate of Bihar had given a thrashing to BJP in Bihar, now it appears the BJP did not learn any lesson in Bihar. Electorate of UP will teach a lesson to it in the assembly elections, “Lalu said. “Narendra Modiji, RSS is again speaking against reservations,” he said.
Vaidya while speaking at Jaipur literature festival on January 19 had suggested review of reservations for SC/ST and OBCs. It is leading to apartheid, he said.
During the Bihar assembly elections, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement on reservations had resulted in unity of votes of backward and dalit castes which cost the BJP heavily in polls. After the elections, the BJP too started giving preference to backward castes and appointed Prem Kumar, a Chandrawanshi of extremely backward caste, as leader of opposition and Nityanand Rai, a Yadav, as state party president.
