Patna: A BJP delegation led by leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Prem Kumar and president of state unit of the party Mangal Pandey met Governor Ram Nath Kovind at Raj Bhawan here on Tuesday and demanded instructions to the state government to free hundreds of members of majority community jailed during recent Muharram and Durga puja festival in about a dozen districts.
The BJP memorandum also demanded action against Shahabad range DIG Md Rahman, SDO of Kishanganj Shafiq Alam and Deputy SP of Madhepura Rahmat Ali for their partisan role during the two festivals. The BJP leaders alleged the members of the majority community were brutally assaulted by police before they were sent to different jails. An undeclared curfew has been imposed in Piro, they alleged. The 8 point demand of the party included action against the DMs and SPs of the concerned districts too.
