New Delhi : The President of India Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office to Bimal Julka as Chief Information Commissioner in the Central Information Commission at a ceremony held on March 6, 2020, at 10.15 am at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Vice-President M Venkaih Naidu and PM Narendra Modi were also present on the occasion.

The post of Chief Information Commissioner was lying vacant after the retirement of Sudhir Bhargava on February 11, 2020. Bimal Julka, 64, is a former I&B Secretary.
