Patna : Family members and friends of Laxman Prasad, 38, a bike and scooter mechanic at Durga Chowk, Indrapuri, on March 16, 2017, blocked road near Pani Tanki Mor on Boring Road under Patliputra police station, Patna,  and burnt tyres to protest his kidnapping on March 10, 2017. Police said that around 70 persons had blocked the road and burnt tyres to protest Laxman’s kidnapping.

Laxman had left his workshop on the bike of an acquaintance to purchase an old bike on March 10 but did not return home. He had informed his family members that he was going to purchase a second hand bike but did not tell them where he was going and with whom, said SHO, Patliputra police station, Sanjiv Shekhar Jha adding his family searched for him on March 10 and March 11 but when they failed to locate him they lodged a report with police regarding his disappearance on March 12.

The SHO said that on March 15 he converted it into a case of kidnapping and looking into the CCTV footage of March 10 to identify the person with whom he had left his shop. His mobile phone is switched off and police are trying to trace its location besides speaking to his acquaitances, SHO Jha said. Laxman belonged to Dariapur under Parsa Bazaar police station, he said.
