Patna  Altogether 2,379 more persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Bihar including 1,407 in Patna on January 5, 2022,  up from 1,659 cases on January 4, 2022, as the virus has assumed an alarming proportion in the state. The Active cases jumped to 5,785 in the state on January 6, 2022, up from 3,697 cases on January 5, 2022. Bihar also recorded two new deaths due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours including 1 in Patna taking the toll to 12,098 including 2,790 in Patna on January 6, 2022.

The 2,379 new Covid-19 cases included 1,407 in Patna, 177 in Gaya, 137 in Muzaffarpur, 71 in Begusarai, 52 in Saran, 36 in Madhubani, 31 in Samastipur, 27 in Bhagalpur, 27 in Kishanganj, 25 in Nalanda, 24 in Darbhanga, 24 in Bhojpur, 23 in Jehanabad, 21 in Lakhisarai, 20 in Munger, 19 in Araria, 19 in Katihar, 18 in West Champaran, 15 in Purnia, 15 in Rohtas, 15 in Saharsa, 15 in Vaishali, 13 in Aurangabad, 12 in Banka, 12 in East Champaran, 10 in Arwal,10 in Nawada, 10 in Sitamarhi, 8 in Jamui, 8 in Buxar, 8 in Sheikhpura, 9 in Siwan, 4 in Supaul, 4 in Gopalganj, 3 in Madhepura, 3 in Kaimur, 2 in Khagaria, and 25 from outside Bihar, according to State Health Department figure.

Bihar has recorded 7,32,804 Covid-19 cases so far of which 7,14,920 patients have recovered including 289 in last 24 hours.  The recovery rate (RR) of patients, however, further dropped to 97.56 % on January 6, 2022, from 97.84% a day before, due to exponential increase in new cases in past few days. The state tested 1,73,745 samples on January 5, 2022.
