Chhapra (Saran) : Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey on August 21, 2019, said that the police is quite capable of combating criminals and destroying their network in the state. Pandey, who reached Chhapra, to pay homage to two martyred policemen, told mediapersons that police would arrest those involved in murder of two cops including an SI Mithilesh Kumar Sah in Marhaura Bazaar locality under Marhaura police station Saran District in North Bihar on August 20, 2019, night. The DGP said that police would verify arms licences across the state.
The DGP said that this case would be probed from all possible angles. Pandey lost his cool when slain SI Mithilesh Sah’s brother demanded CBI probe into the killing of policemen at Marhaura. `Hosh mein hain ki nahi, tamasha kar rahe hain,’ is how DGP reacted. Pandey said that only the state government is capable of recommending CBI probe. He said that state police is not authorised to order such probe. Pandey said that the people of Bihar would have to rise over caste level and cooperate with police in checking crime. He described acts of criminals as cowardice.
Earlier in the day, a guard of honour was given to martyred policemen in Chhapra Policelines. Besides DGP, Saran DM, DIG and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, tension prevails at Marhaura after the encounter that took place on August 20, 2019, night. A large number of policemen have been deployed there.
