Patna : Active cases count climbed to 12,331 in Bihar including 7,072 in Patna on January 8, 2022, up from 8,489 a day before, as 4,526 in the state including 1,956 in Patna on January 7, 2022, as the virus is growing at an exponential rate. A total of 3,048 persons had tested positive for Covid-19 on January 7, 2022. The state, however, did not report any new death due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours and the toll remained static at 12,100 on January 8, 2022. Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey held a review meeting at AIIMS, Patna, on January 8, 2022.
The 4,526 new Covid-19 cases included 1,956 in Patna, 284 in Gaya, 276 in Begusarai, 263 in Muzaffarpur, 212 in Nalanda, 110 in Saran, 90 in Sitamarhi, 88 in East Champaran, 77 in Bhojpur, 73 in Darbhanga, 67 in Jamui, 61 in Rohtas, 61 in Samastipur, 61 in Jehanabad, 60 in Vaishali, 58 in Madhubani, 53 in Bhagalpur, 53 in Katihar, 51 in Kishanganj, 46 in Aurangabad, 45 in Arwal, 44 in Banka, 43 in Purnia, 37 in Madhepura, 37 in Saharsa, 32 in West Champaran, 32 in Supaul, 30 in Buxar, 27 in Lakhisarai, 26 in Munger, 23 in Araria, 22 in Nawada, 18 in Siwan, 16 in kamimur, 15 in Sheohar, 14 in Khagaria, 13 in Gopalganj, 5 in Sheikhpura, and 47 from outside Bihar, according to State Health Department figure.
Bihar has so far logged 7,40,378 Covid-19 cases of which 7,15,966 patients have recovered including 704 in last 24 hours with the recovering rate (RR) slipping to 96.70% on January 8, 2022, from 97.20% on January 7, 2022. Bihar tested 2,10,323 samples on January 7, 2022.
