Patna : Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi on February 27, 2018, presented a Rs 1,76,990 crore budget for the financial year 2018-19 in Bihar Assembly with Rs 32,125 crore  earmarked for Education sector. Modi presented the budget amidst shouting of slogans by the opposition parties. This was Nitish Kumar led NDA government’s first budget after the collapse of Grand Alliance Government in July 2017. The budget size for financial year 2017-18 was Rs 1,60,000 crore.

Modi announced that the Government would construct 1,500 km road in the next financial year while Eye Banks would be established in all the Government Medical College Hospitals. The Government would also spend Rs 85 crore for the protection of Sitabdiara, the native village of Jai Prakash Narain. A Zoo Safari would be established at Rajgir in Nalanda district at a cost of Rs 60 crore.
