Nawada: Union minister of state for small, micro and medium enterprise and Nawada BJP MP Giriraj Singh on Saturday criticized the state government for its anti-farmer attitude and charged CM Nitish Kumar with  depriving the farmers of sufficient time to register themselves under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna.

The state government had finally announced its approval to implement the PM’s Crop Insurance scheme on  August 10.  The Central government has extended the last date of farmer’s registration from July 31 to August 31 to cover more and more farmers under the Crop Insurance schme.

Giriraj also criticized the CM’s Nitish’s obsession with implementation of prohibition and said it was the same Nitish Kumar who by granting license for opening liquor shops in almost every nook and corner of the state but  now had imposed prohibition and impractical punishment for drinking and possessing liquor. He mocked Nitish’s somersault saying  “pahle chhak-chhak ke piyo aur ab ghar-ghar jail bharo”,  (first drink to your heart’s content, but now cool your heels with entire family in jail!).

The minister was in Nawada to attend the quarterly district Evaluation (anushraman) meet which was aborted as  DM, Manoj Kumar, was in Gaya to attend the CM’s meet with top officials of Magadh zone. The meet enables all elected representatives to review the progress of implementation of various ongoing Central government schemes by the district authorities. The minister lamented that the DM despite fixing Saturday as the day of the meet, which are held every three months in a year, did not have the courtesy to inform about his ‘absence’. The Hisua and Warisaliganj BJP MLAs Anil Singh and Aruna Devi also expressed their displeasure over  the DM’s absence.  Aruna Devi went to the extent of holding the CM responsible for deliberately choosing Saturday for his Gaya programme to scuttle the district Evaluation meet by summoning the DMs of Gaya, Aurangabbad, Jehanabad and Nawada. This reflected the CM’s anti-Modi bias, she added.
