Patna : Bihar government on August 18, 2017, hiked the monthly stipend of those doing internship in government medical colleges in the state by Rs 3,000 per month. The state cabinet on August 18 approved a propsal to this effect of the health department.

The government increased the stipend of those doing internship in all streams in all the government medical colleges with effect from April 1, 2017, said Principal Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat Departments, Brijesh Mehrotra. Interns of allopathy, ayurved, homoeopathy, Unani and dental will now get Rs 15,000 monthly stipend against the presnt Rs 12,000 per month. At present, there are 950 such Interns in Bihar.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal of General Administration Department to sack former Land Acquisition Officer, Banka, Jaishri Thakur, a Bihar Administrative Service officer already under suspension.
