Patna : Bihar Governor cum Chancellor of state universities Lalji Tandon on November 20, 2018, directed VCs of Magadh University (MU), Bodh Gaya, Patliputra University (PPU), Patna, and Maulana Mazharulhaq Arabi- Persian University, Patna,  to immediately start proceedings for disaffiliation of 39 BEd colleges under their jurisdiction for not meeting guidelines of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and university for affiliation. Out of these 39 BEd colleges, 23 fall under MU, 5 under PPU, and 11 under Maulana Mazharulhaq Arabi- Persian University.

These 39 colleges were not uploading photographs of classrooms on BEd Post Apps despite reminders, according to a Raj Bhawan Secretariat release. They had also not complied with Patna High Court directive to BEd colleges to upload details about their infrastructure, number of teachers and students, and different posts with payscales on their respective web portals. The VCs have been directed to keep a close watch on teaching in BEd colleges under their respective jurisdiction.
