Patna : Bihar CM Nitish Kumar launched the Covid-19 vaccination rollout at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) at 11 am on January 16, 2021. The Covid-19 vaccination programme was conducted at 301 session sites in 38 districts across the state covering 18,122 beneficiaries on January 16, 2021.

IGIMS sweeper Rambabu was the first to be vaccinated against Covid-19 in the presence of CM Nitish Kumar. Ambulance driver was next to be vaccinated followed by Lab Technician Sonu Pandit, Dr Sanant Kumar and Karamvir Singh Rathor. The beneficiaries were observed for 30 minutes after vaccinationand were found healthy and soon got engaged in their respective duty. CM Kumar handed over certificates to the beneficiries. The CM also planted a tree on IGIMS campus on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Bihar rose to 2,58,528 on January 16, 2021, afternoon, as 239 more persons including 100 from Patna, 14 from Darbhanga, 12 from Nalanda, and 10 from Araria, tested positive for the pandemic on January 15, 2021.

Of the 2,58,528 Covid cases recorded in Bihar, a total of 2,53,186 patients have been declared cured including 328 in last 24 hours with the recovery rate (RR) being 97.93%.

 

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,453 in Bihar on January 16, 2021, with 4 new deaths being recorded in the state in last 24 hoursincluding 1 each in East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Vaishali, and Darbhanga.
