Patna : Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) cum Principal Secretary, Election Department, Bihar, Ajay V Nayak, was on July 12, 2017, promoted to the Apex Scale of Rs 2.25 lakh in Chief Secretary rank with effect from September 1, 2016. Nayak is a 1984 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre.
The post of CEO, Bihar, too has been upgraded to the Apex Scale and remain so till Nayak holds the post. The General Administration Department (GAD) issued a notification to this effect on July 12. Nayak’s immediate junior and 1985 batch IAS officer Shashi Shekhar Sharma was already promoted to the Apex Scale with effect from September 1, 2016. Sources said that even IAS officers of 1986 batch had been promoted to the Apex Scale earlier.
