Patna: Bihar legislative assembly on Monday passed the Bihar Excise (amendment) Bill by 153-45 majority. The BJP had pressed for division on passage off the Bill twice and on both occasions, amendments moved by the party were rejected. BJP’s proposal to drop the clause related to imprisonment of entire adult family members of the person found possessing liquor at his the house or premises was turned down.
BJP’s senior member Nand Kishore Yadav termed the Biil as black law. Leader of opposition in Bihar legislative council Sushil Kumar Modi regretted the  state government treated violation of excise laws a crime bigger than murders.
Bill will be introduced in the council on Tuesday.
