Patna : Bihar Governor cum Chancellor Lalji Tandon on March 14, 2019, told the Vice-Chancellors (VCs) that laxity in efforts being made to improve the quality of higher education in the state universities would not be tolerated at all.

The Governor had convened a meeting of VCs of different universities at Raj Bhavan on March 14 to review the implementation of decisions taken earlier to accelerate the pace of development of higher education in the state. The Governor said that taking action against any VC would not give him pleasure but if it is required in the larger interest of education system in the state he would not hesistate to take action. He said that the UGC and other central agencies were ready to extend every help to the state varsities.

The Governor said that there was absolutely no lack of resources for implementing different schemes by the state varsities. He also stressed on research work in the state universities. He also suggested the universities and colleges to adopt a village each and develop them.

The Governor directed all the universities and colleges to submit their respective Self Study Report (SSR) to All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE-ID) and get their IDs by March 31, 2019, for NAAC Accreditation. They were also asked to complete the process of implementation of University Management Information System (UMIS) in March.

The Governor had also held a meeting with the principals of different medical colleges in the state on March 13, 2019.
