Bibek Debroy appointed Chairman of EAC-PM

New Delhi : PM Narendra Modi on September 25, 2017, constituted the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM). The five-member council headed by Bibek Debroy consists of economists of high repute and eminence.

The EAC-PM comprises Bibek Debroy, Member, NITI Aayog- Chairman , Surjit Bhalla- Part-time Member, Rathin Roy- Part-time Member, Ashima Goyal- Part-time Member and Ratan Watal, Principal Advisor, NITI Aayog – Member-Secretary, according to a PIB release.

The EAC would analyze any issue, economic or otherwise, referred to it by the Prime Minister and advising him thereon and also address issues of macroeconomic importance and presenting views thereon to the Prime Minister. This could be either suo-motu or on reference from the Prime Minister or anyone else. The EAC-PM is an independent body to give advice on economic and related issues to the Government of India specifically to the Prime Minister.
